Last update January 09 2017
Time flies, we've been so busy that we didn't have any time
to miss our JoHo. John is mainly busy with building a SailAventures project,
the "Mini-T" and because of the fantastic weather we had until the
end of October, sunny and reasonably warm, John came a long way.
The Mini-T is shaped in wood-epoxy from scratch, to a mini Trimaran. The rudders are mounted to the Amas and the boat is finished in a deep blue color. We love it. The main hull is also finished, but needs to be painted still. Above the cockpit John placed a hood like the one on our JoHo, also in wood-epoxy and solar on top of it. The cockpit floor can be opened in sections and houses the batteries for the electric propulsion. Excellent solution. In the front of the boat there's a storage part that we can close with a small door. Behind that the galley, a sink with faucet and the refrigerator is placed.
Just after the windows were placed weather turned, but our Mini-T is wind and water tight now. So we can wait for springtime with nice warm weather before John can continue to finish the Mini-T project.
At the same time I started a new period in my life. Since early
October, I'm back in service after 15 years leave at the Dutch Railways. I'm
being trained for Train Engineer. This will take approximately 1 year and it's
a combined learning and working program. Me being almost 50 it is quite a big
The first part of the theory exam will take place late April, the second part, practice exam around October 2017. In the meantime, learning, practice, learning and learning. Classes are small and ours is a super class. We help each other and we have respect for everyone in our class.
Just before Christmas I got my first midterm exam. I succeeded and with a good feeling I entered the Holiday season. No more study until after New Years day :-)
It is so good to be back in the Netherlands. Along with family,
doing fun things. We met with friends and acquaintances (from long ago) again
and make plans for New Year.
We hope JoHo will be sold this year, bit if not we will keep her for our holidays. Which of course is also a good plan. First holiday will be around november....... looking forward to be back on JoHo, let the countdown begin.
These are our 2017 wishes to all our friends and family all
over the world:
CELEBRATE LIFE, BE YOURSELF, KEEP DREAMING AND REMEMBER TO TOAST TO A HEALTHY LIFE
